PLAY STREETS MACON ON BAY STREET IS THIS SUNDAY FROM 2-5 PM!

Join us this Sunday for a day of fun, community, and play as we bring the Play Streets Macon initiative to the MLK Small + Minority Business District in Historic Greenwood Bottom! Activities will take place along Bay Street from MLK Jr Blvd to Third Street.

Neighborhood-led activities include:
  • Safe car-free space for play, interaction, and socializing.
  • Neighborhood-led activities including sidewalk chalk art, an outdoor living room, BBQs, educational activities, lawn games, and more.
  • Music and entertainment including performances from the Douglass Theatre and Greater Turner Tabernacle AME Church.
We invite residents of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds to join in the excitement. Let’s come together and make this program a memorable experience for our entire community!

What is Play Streets Macon?
Play Streets Macon is a community-driven initiative that empowers residents to temporarily close their streets to through traffic, creating a safe space for play, connection, and family-friendly activities. The program is inspired by Bike Walk Macon’s popular Open Streets Macon initiative. Play Streets is a fantastic opportunity to reclaim the streets and enjoy a vibrant atmosphere with your neighbors!

ABOUT BIKE WALK MACON

Bike Walk Macon is leading the movement to make bicycling and walking a safe, healthy, and affordable option for transportation and recreation for all Maconites.

Founded in July 2015, we are Macon-Bibb County’s first grassroots bicycle and pedestrian advocacy organization working to enhance mobility to create a more vibrant, healthy, and equitable city. Through community leadership and inclusive engagement, Bike Walk Macon has become the city’s voice for all things biking and walking. We seek to make active transportation an option for all Maconites, no matter where they live or where they’re trying to go. We work to make our transportation network support active living and additional commuting options.
